Lokayukta officials inspect Legal Metrology Department offices

After the BBMP offices, Lokatyukta officials conducted surprise inspections at the offices of the Legal Metrology Department and found large-scale irregularities.

The officials also registered suo-motu cases against the officials and staff found involved in favouritism, nepotism and corruption, B.S. Patil, Lokayukta, said.

Based on a series of complaints about corrupt practices, a team of officials visited the offices discreetly and confirmed the allegations, they said.

During the inspections, some offices were found locked and the officials in-charge were absent. Despite repeated attempts to reach them, they did not turn up. The officials confiscated the documents and material from the offices for further investigation. Notices will be issued to the officials seeking explanations for their absence.
