Vice President Office Sources said, “This is the first meeting of Prime Minister Modi after securing the third term of Lok Sabha, in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections…During the meeting, PM was also served “peda” a delicacy from Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan ( home district of Vice President Dhankhar) and “Gud” (Jaggery )from Meerut, a prominent agricultural produce from the region.” 

On Lok Sabha election results, Karnataka Congress leader Priyank Kharge said, “It would have been better for the (INDIA) alliance if we would have got 25-30 seats more. All senior leaders of the alliance will meet today evening…”

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu arrives at the residence of Jayadev Galla in Delhi. He is in Delhi to attend the NDA meeting.

Manoj Tiwari, BJP’s winning candidate from North East Delhi, said, ” People gave us 7 seats…first 5 months we will appeal to people to remove AAP and Congress who looted you and give double engine to PM Modi so that we can solve all the issues of Delhi…people should press lotus button in the election coming after 5 months”

Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis requested the BJP high command to relieve him from the responsibility of the government after the BJP secured only nine of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharahstra in the general elections 2024.

“I take the responsibility for such results in Maharashtra. I was leading the party. I am requesting the BJP high command to relieve me from the responsibility of the government so that I can work hard for the party in upcoming elections,” Fadnavis said on Wednesday.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan informed on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on President Droupadi Murmu and he tendered his resignation along with the Union Council of Ministers. “The President accepted the resignation and requested the Prime Minister and the Union Council of Ministers to continue in office till the new Government is formed,”  Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

Speaking with ANI after leaving from 10 Janpath- the residence of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, KL Sharma said, “I had brought with me Rahul Gandhi’s winning certificate and sought Madam’s (Sonia Gandhi’s) blessings. Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and KC Venugopal were also there.”

He added further, “They asked me to stay humble, just as I am. I should not be filled with ego just because I became an MP. This is what they asked of me and I will follow their instructions.”

On BJP opening its account in Kerala in Lok Sabha elections, State BJP President K Surendran says, “This is a very important and significant victory for BJP in Kerala. We opened our account and our vote share increased, 20% of votes BJP secured in this election. This is the beginning of a big yatra because next we have the local body and Assembly elections in which BJP will be the main contender.”

The PM has reached the President’s house, where he is expected to tender his resignation before President Droupadi Murmu, according to TImes Now report. 

When asked about TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while addressing a press conference in the National Capital, Sharad Pawar said, “…I won’t talk to them… When a decision is taken during our (INDIA alliance) meeting, then I will. Right now, I haven’t spoken to them”

On being asked if they would consider the partners of BJP-led NDA alliance in the INDIA bloc, he said, “I cannot comment on that. We will let you know after the meeting. Today is our first meeting and the decision will be taken on the future strategies.”

Delhi: LJP (Ram Vilas) MP from Vaishali, Veena Devi says, “Congratulations and gratitude to the people of Bihar. They trusted us and made us victorious in all (5) seats…Our Prime Minister will form the government for the third time.”

Speaking about the INDIA alliance meeting post the announcement of the 2024 Lok Sabha election results, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said that the parties will sit and decide the “future course of action”.

Regarding Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, he remarked, “Before 2019, Chandrababu Naidu tried to bring everyone in the country together and raised his voice against dictatorship and also for the federal structure of the country. Nitish Kumar brought the whole INDIA bloc together. It’s not that these two leaders have some devotion or respect for Narendra Modi or Amit Shah”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Union cabinet here on Tuesday to take stock of the Lok Sabha election results and likely government formation following the BJP-led NDA winning a majority of seats in the house.

The meeting at the prime minister’s residence, a day after the results were declared, began at 11.30 am and will be followed by a meeting of the council of ministers, sources said.

Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha emerged victorious from Asansol constituency in West Bengal this Lok Sabha Elections.

Celebrating her father’s political win, actor Sonakshi Sinha took to Instagram and gave a shout out to the people of Asansol.

“Thank you to the people of Asansol,” she wrote.

Speaking to reporters ahead of attending the INDIA bloc meeting in New Delhi, Tejashwi Yadav said, “RJD has secured the maximum number of votes in Bihar and our voting per cent is greatest. We have also witnessed an increase in the number of seats as compared to the last time… The people of the country have taught a lesson to the BJP, they have voted against the divisive policy, and the politics of hatred. They have voted against their dictatorship and have stopped it.”

‘You always want news. I am experienced and I have seen several political changes in this country. We are in NDA, I’m going to the NDA meeting. In course of time, we will report it,” said TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu thanks the people of Andhra for a record mandate. 

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari says, “They (NDA) were brought down to 240 seats from 303 seats. NDA did not win seats because of Modiji but because of NDA, BJP won seats. Ayodhya was given most of the time and it was made the biggest subject, PM Modi couldn’t make their candidate win from there…BJP is the ‘Vyapari’ of Lord Ram not ‘Pujari’…”

Andhra Pradesh: Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan leaves from Vijayawada for Delhi for the NDA meeting.

TDP, BJP and Jana Sena Party alliance in the state swept Andhra Pradesh elections, winning 164 of the total 175 sets here. Jana Sena Party also won 2 Lok Sabha seats.

Union Minister and BJP MP from Udhampur, Jitendra Singh arrives in Delhi for the NDA meeting, to be held later today.

He defeated INC’s Ch Lal Singh by more than 1.2 lakh votes.

As the INDIA bloc performed better than anticipated and the BJP fell short of the halfway mark of 272 seats in the Lok Sabha, DMK leader Kanimozhi on Wednesday said that the pattern of voting in the 2024 election is against the BJP government at the Centre.

“Pattern of voting all over the country is against the BJP government, especially in Tamil Nadu where the DMK alliance has won all the seats,” Kanimozhi said.

Bihar: LJP (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan says, “… People of Bihar has instilled their trust in our party and given us a mandate on all the 5 seats we contested… We promise to fulfil our responsibilities. PM Modi showed his faith in a party with a single MP and gave us 5 seats and we won all 5 of them…”

With both the NDA and INDIA bloc scheduling strategy sessions in their bid to notch up the required numbers to form a majority government, a slew of political leaders from both the alliances are landing in the national capital on Wednesday.

Declaration of results of 18th Lok Sabha election in the 543-member Parliament saw the BJP-led NDA winning 294 seats and the INDIA bloc bagging 234 seats.

They listened to a lot of fake speeches and assurances…they voted for Congress, in the interest of nation”

Patna, Bihar: RJD leader Manoj Jha says, “You talked about 400 paar. You had a majority in 2014 and 2019, but this time you are 34 seats short of a majority… People did not let you reach 272 seats… Even after ‘Modi ki guarantee’, ‘bhains’, mangalsutra, and ‘mujra’ you managed to win only 239…”

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief MK Stalin left for Delhi on Wednesday ahead of the INDIA bloc meeting scheduled for later today. Stalin’s DMK party has won 22 in the 2024 Lok Sabha election in Tamil Nadu.

On Tuesday, Stalin described the performance of the INDIA bloc as historic.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar will attend the NDA meeting today in Delhi. He will leave for the national capital at 10:45 a.m. Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde will also attend the NDA meeting today. He will leave for Delhi at 11 a.m.

The Narendra Modi-led government will hold a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday at 1130 to dissolve the current government and form a new one. Members of the National Democratic alliance will also meet in Delhi, which will reportedly be attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The BJP won all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi for the third consecutive time, dashing the hopes of the AAP-Congress alliance. The BJP candidates in Delhi Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Praveen Khandelwal, Bansuri Swaraj, Harsh Malhotra, Manoj Tiwari, Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Yogender Chandoliya were declared winners with a margin of 1,24,333, 89,325 votes, 78,000, 93,663, 1,38,778 lakh, 1,99,013 lakh and 2,90,849 votes respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP faced a significant challenge from the INDIA bloc, led by the Samajwadi Party, which won 37 seats. The Samajwadi Party reduced the BJP’s count to 35 from 62 seats in 2019.

The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) secured 29 seats, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) secured 22 seats, and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) secured 16 seats, according to the Election Commission of India.

The Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, which Rahul Gandhi won for the second time in a row, comprises three assembly constituencies each in the tribal district of Wayanad and the Muslim-dominated Malappuram, as well as one in the Kozhikode district, where Christians hold a significant vote base. Gandhi romped him with a margin of over 3.64 lakh votes against his nearest rival, Annie Raja of the CPI.

With the Congress scion winning handsomely from Rae Bareli as well, questions remain about which constituency he will now forego. However, he has said he has not decided on which seat he will represent in the Lok Sabha. 

In his remarks, after most of the results came in the evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the BJP-led NDA would form its third successive government and that it was the victory of the resolve of Viksit Bharat, of ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’, and of the strong faith of people in India’s Constitution.

PM Modi said at the party’s central office that it is the first time since 1962 that a government that completed two full terms has gotten a third successive term. He said “new history” has been created after six decades.

PM Modi also said that despite the opposition parties’ coming together, their combined number was less than the BJP’s tally.

In the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, pollsters had predicted around 285 seats for the NDA. And in reality the NDA bagged 353 seats, of which the BJP got 303 alone. The Opposition’s UPA managed only 93 seats of which the Congress got 52. In the Lok Sabha Elections 2014, the NDA was estimated to win around 257-340 seats. However, the NDA won 336 seats and Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister for the first time.

While most exit polls predicted a smooth victory for PM Modi’s NDA with over 350 seats, at least three major exit polls—India Today-My Axis India, India TV-CNX, and News24-Todays Chanakya—have predicted 400 plus seats for the ruling coalition in general elections.

Hailing the Lok Sabha election results in 2024, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday thanked the people of Wayanad and Raebareli for making him win with a huge majority and said that the people have saved the Constitution and democracy in the country.

“Thank you very much to the people of Wayanad and Raebareli for giving me immense support and making me win with a huge majority. If it were in my control, I would have liked to remain an MP from both places,” said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a press conference in the national capital on Tuesday.

Congress leader Sachin Pilot claimed that the public didn’t like the BJP’s narrative of “Mandir-Masjid”, “Hindu-Muslim”.

“The states in which the BJP expected to increase its numbers, like West Bengal, Haryana and Rajasthan, the people have rejected them there… The issues we brought up were liked by the people. Our narrative was optimistic, but BJP’s narrative was Mandir-Masjid, Hindu-Muslim, and Mangalsutra. The people may not have liked it… Who would have taken the credit if they (BJP) had gone above 400?… Those who wanted the credit must accept that the public did not give them their expected mandate,” said Pilot while talking to ANI.

The BJP faced setbacks in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, struggled in the south, and saw limited success in West Bengal. However, it triumphed in Odisha, winning 20 out of 21 seats, with Congress securing the remaining seat and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) failing to win any. The BJP’s tally of 240 seats marks a decrease from previous elections, while Congress increased its count from 52 seats in 2019 to 99 in 2024.

The final count for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections has concluded, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning 240 seats, far fewer than had been expected, however, prevailing over the Opposition, Congress, which won 99 seats. For the first time, since the Bharatiya Janata Party swept to power in 2014, it did not secure a majority on its own.
