After losing the Chief Minister’s post, Jagan’s diplomatic passport was revoked. With no other option, Jagan applied for a general passport. The CBI Court in Hyderabad ordered the issuance of a general passport with a five-year validity to Jagan.

Meanwhile, the Vijayawada court ordered the issuance of a passport to Jagan with only a one-year validity. Challenging this decision, Jagan filed a lunch-motion petition in the High Court, seeking permission for a passport with a five-year validity.
