Last-Minute Disaster: NRI Groom Ditches Bride

A grand wedding in Gurdaspur turned into a nightmare when the bride’s family waited for hours, but the groom never arrived. The NRI groom and his family disappeared without leaving any trace.

Shocking details related to the case have emerged raising questions about how it even reached the wedding day. The first warning sign came on the engagement in October last year when a woman barged in and slapped the groom, claiming she had married him in 2021.

However, the groom’s family downplayed the incident, assuring the bride’s family that they would resolve it. Trusting them, the family continued with wedding preparations which led to an even bigger embarrassment for them later.

On February 19, the bride’s family gathered at a grand venue in Gurdaspur, ready for the celebrations. But the baraat never came and calls to the groom went unanswered.

The bride’s father, Dharampal, claims they had spent ₹20 lakh on the wedding, only to be left humiliated and cheated. The family filed a complaint with the police immediately after the incident.

SSP Gurdaspur revealed they have now booked Pankaj Kumar, his father Satpal, mother Kusum Lata, and brother Ankush Kumar under fraud and other charges. With the investigation still underway, the NRI groom remains at large.
