L2 Empuraan Overseas Bookings: Totally Unexpected

Few weeks back many thought L2: Empuraan had no hype. Unlike Lucifer (2019) which had massive pre release hype, this one didn’t have any buzz.

Some even questioned if it will create an impact outside Kerala. But now? The overseas advance booking numbers are proving everyone wrong!

In Australia the film has already grossed over $100K in 24 hours, breaking the record of Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life’s $69.59K opening day.

Germany? A whopping €50K already – more than any Malayalam film’s entire opening weekend there! US, Canada and other European markets are also showing good numbers.

What seemed like an underwhelming pre release phase is now turning into a global phenomenon.

Manjummel Boys holds the record with around $9 million overseas. But if L2: Empuraan maintains this momentum and gets good word of mouth it can easily cross $10-12 million!

To put things into perspective Lucifer grossed around $6 million internationally in its lifetime – L2: Empuraan has already got nearly 19% of that through advance bookings alone!

Lucifer has a global fan following and L2: Empuraan is cashing in on that. Plus post Manjummel Boys Malayalam cinema has got a stronger hold overseas.

The star studded cast of Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas is another major plus.

But let’s be honest advance bookings don’t guarantee long term success. Will the film live up to the hype? That’s the real question.

From “low buzz” to shattering records L2: Empuraan is rewriting expectations. With ₹6 crores ($720K) already in the bag from pre-sales and 8 days to go it’s safe to say Malayalam cinema is about to witness history!
