There’s no doubt that KGF changed the face of the Kannada film industry. Before its release, even a 50-crore box office collection was seen as a huge success in Sandalwood. Crossing 100 crores was considered nearly impossible.
But KGF shattered that perception. With Yash in the lead and Prashanth Neel directing, the film elevated Kannada cinema to a national level.

KGF Chapter 1 was a massive hit, but Chapter 2 went even further, collecting over ₹1000 crore worldwide. That success proved that Kannada films could deliver pan-India blockbusters with grand scale and reach.
This breakthrough boosted the confidence of the industry and showed that Kannada cinema could compete with the biggest players in Indian film. After KGF 2’s blockbuster run, the makers confirmed KGF Chapter 3 would happen, with Yash and Prashanth Neel likely reuniting.

Now, Yash is working on Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas and set to release next year. But the buzz around Toxic is low, as fans are still more invested in KGF 3. They are waiting for its announcement.
Recently, as KGF Chapter 2 completed three years, fans trended hashtags and flooded social media demanding updates. Meanwhile, Prashanth Neel is busy with NTR’s Dragon, which may release in summer 2026. If Dragon ends up as a two-part film, it could take up all his time.

Neel is also expected to direct Salaar 2 with Prabhas, possibly in 2026 or 2027. With his packed schedule, it’s unclear when KGF 3 will begin. Still, fans strongly believe that Yash and Neel will reunite—and until then, the wait goes on.
For now, KGF 3 remains the only film with the potential to take Yash’s pan-India stardom to even greater heights. Fans feel Toxic just doesn’t carry the same weight or potential.
