Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 arrived in theatres on May 1, 2025, and despite average reviews, the film’s box office numbers have been decent, making it a clean hit.
Trade experts have predicted that Raid 2’s lifetime collections could be somewhere between Rs. 130-140 crores. The opening day figure was very good as it recorded Rs. 20 crores. While there was a drop on Day 2, the numbers started rising on Saturday.

But on the other hand, a section of the audience is confused about why people did not go to watch Kesari Chapter 2, whose reviews were better than Raid 2 and had an intense theme.
The debate has emerged after the box office numbers were out. It was discovered that the lifetime collection of Kesari Chapter 2 was the first week collection of Raid 2. Moreover, the average reviews for Raid 2 also raised the question at the same time.

There are many reasons behind the difference between Kesari Chapter 2 and Raid 2’s box office collections.
Many people believe that Raid 2 received a clean UA 13+ certificate, which means it was suitable to be watched by families.

However, the same people said that since Kesari Chapter 2 received an A certificate, it kept family audiences away, despite that the theme was something that could be taught to children.
While Akshay has always been flawless in portraying any character, the actor’s overexposure is something that is not being accepted by the general public. People have been frequently requesting him to take a long gap between his films, which is not happening.
Even if the above-mentioned point is ignored, Kesari Chapter 2 did not create enough buzz before its release. By the time it came out in theatres and the reviews went public, it was too late.

Akshay has a huge fanbase in Punjab and his support to a political party also created disinterest for his film among people, despite that it was based on the Jallianwala Bagh incident that claimed lots of lives.
Moreover, in today’s situation, films have to be made by keeping all kinds of audiences in mind. Making films that can impress only the multiplex audience is not sufficient.
Considering the response received by Kesari Chapter 2, it is the best time for filmmakers to focus on subjects that can pull audiences in both multiplex and single-screen theatres.
