Kesari 2 first reviews: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Rahul Sharma laud Akshay Kumar film; Rana Daggubatti calls it ‘powerful, important’ | Bollywood News

After generating significant anticipation through its trailer and promotional campaigns on social media, the makers of Kesari Chapter 2 organized a special screening in Delhi on Tuesday, curated specifically for political dignitaries. Attendees included Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Minister Anurag Thakur. According to a source, upon his arrival in the capital, Akshay Kumar first met with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta before proceeding to the screening.

Following the screening, CM Rekha Gupta addressed the media and remarked, “The film gives you goosebumps as it portrays how a bloody Baisakhi was observed that day at Jallianwala Bagh, and how millions sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom, only to be lost in the pages of history…we don’t even know their names. And yet, we are able to breathe freely in an independent nation because of them.” Visibly moved by the film, she expressed a heartfelt commitment to devote her life wholly to the motherland.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Minister for Environment, Forest, and Wildlife, shared visuals from the event on his X handle, describing the film as “a powerful tribute to the heroes of Jallianwala Bagh.” Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri echoed a similar sentiment, calling it a “cinematic ode to India’s freedom movement.” Micromax founder Rahul Sharma, also present at the screening, appeared deeply affected and commented, “This is content, deserving of a National Award.”

Actor R. Madhavan, who stars alongside Akshay Kumar, was also in attendance and seen posing with Minister Anurag Thakur. He later stated that Kesari Chapter 2 would be his proudest cinematic endeavour. During the screening, Akshay Kumar expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acknowledging the contributions of lawyer and nationalist C. Sankaran Nair. The actor also appealed to the audience to refrain from using mobile phones during the screening, emphasizing that doing so would dishonour the gravity of the film’s subject matter.

A few days earlier, actor Rana Daggubati had watched the film and shared his impressions on X: “Just watched an incredible historical courtroom drama — Kesari: Chapter 2, The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh. A powerful, important film that stands tall and stays deep with the Indian in you. This is storytelling that deserves to be seen across languages.” He further pledged that his production house, Suresh Productions, “will do everything we can to bring this cinematic gem to Telugu audiences in the best way in cinemas.”

Set against the harrowing backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the film portrays a gripping courtroom battle between Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan. Kesari: Chapter 2 is scheduled for theatrical release on April 18. It is a cinematic adaptation of The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, chronicling the life of C. Sankaran Nair and the pivotal events surrounding the 1919 massacre.
