Kareena Kapoor Responds To Claims Of Hurting Religious Sentiments

It is common for any celebrity to be involved in any kind of controversy. Issues might erupt out of anything and in today’s world, social media has become a problem instead of being a medium of entertainment. The latter has contributed to an increase in legal cases and other things since things easily go viral in a short period.

Talking about controversies, Kareen Kapoor Khan has landed herself in trouble after she released a book titled Pregnancy Bible. As expected, the latter part of the name led to problems, and Christopher Anthony, an advocate, began to demand a ban on the book for the same.

The reason behind the ban has been frequent in many cases since the world returned to normal after the COVID-19 pandemic. Anthony stated that Kareena has hurt the religious sentiments of the Christian community, adding that she was using the name of a holy book, which she cannot compare with her pregnancy.

Anthony had initially attempted to file an FIR and while it failed, he decided to go to the lower court, where his plea was dismissed, stating that the use of the word was not offensive in any manner.

The Heroine star was eventually sent a legal notice and her legal team recently responded to the same, stating that she never intended to hurt someone’s sentiments. However, this does not mark the end of the case since the next hearing is scheduled for September 10, 2024, at the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Cases of hurting religious sentiments have witnessed a rise in the last three years. Back in 2021, the same issue happened with the Amazon Prime Video series Tandav, which co-incidentally featured Kareena’s husband Saif Ali Khan in the lead. The situation was so bad that the streaming platform was forced to remove an entire sequence from the first episode.

In another instance last year, Nayanthara’s film Annapoorani was taken down by Netflix after it was accused of hurting the sentiments of the Brahmins. The film has not returned yet to the streaming platform and Netflix has yet to give a confirmation of the same. However, Nayanthara later posted an apology letter through social media.

This raises the question of whether such things are done intentionally to help in a film’s promotion or if the writers are not well aware of what they are exactly putting on the paper. It remains to be seen if these incidents will get a permanent closure or if they will continue.
