Kamala Harris Can Still Become US President

While America’s mandate became clear to everyone on November 5 there are still two months left before Donald Trump regains his position at the White House. It turns out this window might be enough for Kamala Harris to be the US President before him.

Jamal Simmons, former communications director for Kamala Harris, has called on President Biden to step down before the official end of his tenure, so the vice president can briefly become America’s first female president.

While he praised Biden’s achievements, Simmons believes there is one last promise the President has left to fulfill. That is making Kamala Harris president, even if it will be for a short time before Trump takes over.

Biden stepping down would undercut Trump, allowing Kamala Harris to avoid the heavy responsibility of overseeing the aftermath of January 6. It will also relieve future female candidates of bearing the burden of being the first woman president.

Albeit coming from a positive place, the move will seem more of a token victory than a well-earned one. The First Female President of the US will be a historic title and might get devalued due to a technicality and a month-long reign following it.

While it is highly unlikely, Biden could step down in the next 30 days and elect Kamala Harris as the 47th US President.
