Maintaining a long and strong marriage is no easy feat in the world of cinema. Even without the complications of infidelity or other toxic patterns, it is still challenging for two artistes to sustain a fruitful relationship, since the demanding nature of their profession often keeps them away from their families and homes for prolonged periods. Those who manage to weather these storms and remain with the partners they began their journeys with are truly fortunate. One such power couple in Bollywood is Kajol and Ajay Devgn, who have been married for 26 years now.
Despite their longevity, the two have never hesitated to admit that their relationship has its ups and downs, much like that of any other couple in the world. Recently, Kajol candidly shared that Ajay is “50:50” as a husband, acknowledging that he has both strengths and flaws. Maintaining that he’s actually more difficult to work with as a co-star than as a filmmaker, she stated that he is quite easygoing when he’s donning the director’s hat.

When asked how Ajay fares as a husband, the Maa actor told Times Now, “As a husband, he is 50:50. We both have our bad moods. If there’s a fight, the one who makes up depends on who won the last argument. We try not to maintain records of our fights. So, it all depends on who remembers the last one.”
In another recent interview, Kajol had reflected on their contrasting personalities and how that has been a key factor in their lasting bond. She also emphasised that “partial deafness and selective amnesia” are essential for a long and happy marriage. “Ajay and I are completely different otherwise hum logo ko itne saal nahi lagte (it wouldn’t have taken us so long), we would have separated long before. I say this quite often that the secret to happy marriage is partial deafness and selective amnesia. You really need to forget certain things about your partner and sometimes unhearing things they said. It is very important,” she said during a conversation with Mashable India.
