As they say, humor is subjective. That is probably the best and the worst quality of humor. Not everyone gets it. A recent instance has left half of the internet gasping; it arose when the host of the show “India’s Got Latent,” Samay Raina, made a rather dark quip about a cohost’s father.
The episode clip is going viral, in which Raina, a well-known comedian and a chess streamer, introduced a fellow stand-up comedian, Madhur Virly. Introducing him in adjacence to the quote, ‘His father died, and that’s all I know about him.”

The internet is on a rampage about how insensitive Samay gets with his jokes. But the problem is that people don’t know the context of the joke. Madhur Virly himself has made entire skits for his performances centered around his trauma.
The people on the internet don’t realize that performers like Madhur and Samay happen to use the trauma to propel their art, and that is how they deal with it. It is rather common for Gen Z to indulge in dark and often taboo humor.
