JAMMU: J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday requested State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) to include his name in the organ donors register, asserting that the selfless act of organ donation should be life’s motto, as it not only gives recipients a new lease of life but also renews the hopes of their loved ones.
While speaking at a programme organised by Bharatiya Jain Sangathan J&K under the aegis of S S Jain Sabha J&K to promote organ donation, Sinha expressed his gratitude to voluntary organ donors and called upon people to come forward and join the noble cause of organ and tissue donation.
“For donors, it provides a life-giving opportunity,” Lt Guv Sinha said, adding: “The selfless act also touches lives of families and friends of those seeking transplant.”
Sinha called for collective efforts to make organ transplants affordable and accessible at govt and private hospitals. He stressed the need for permanent help desks at hospitals to provide information and counter myths surrounding organ donation, and camps to inform and encourage people to sign up as donors.
