Last month, Jio slashed the price of the JioCinema Premium ad-free subscription plan from Rs 59 to Rs 29 per month for a single device. Now, the company has announced that the JioCinema Premium ad-free plan will cost Rs 299 for 12 months. This is a huge discount compared to the previous pricing of Rs 999 per year.

However, unlike the JioCinema Premium Family plan, which costs Rs 59 per month for up to four devices, there is no annual family plan. Until last month, JioCinema did not have an ad-free plan. The new annual and monthly plans offer not only an ad-free experience but also lets users stream content in up to 4K resolution, with live sports being the exception.

At a time when popular OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video are bombarding paid users with ads, JioCinema seems to be heading in a different direction and happens to be one of the cheapest OTT platforms that offers an ad-free experience. If you want to watch content on JioCinema, the annual plan helps save money since it offers the same benefits as the monthly plan but costs less.

Similar to the monthly plan, the annual subscription aggregates all content from services like HBO, Peacock and Paramount Plus. However, some regional content including IPL can be accessed for free as part of the ad-supported model.

JioCinema is available on various platforms like iPhone and Android, Google TV, FireOS, Apple TV and can even be accessed from a web browser. Jio says the streaming quality depends on the resolution of the screen.
