MLC Bypoll: Jagan's Bad Choice Vs Chandrababu Naidu's Smart Choice

It is known to our readers that Botsa Satyanarayana has been confirmed as the YSR Congress Candidate for the upcoming Vishakapatnam Local Bodies MLC By-election.

Reports are that Peela Govind is likely to be the candidate of TDP.

This is a very good choice by Chandrababu Naidu. Firstly, Peela Govind is a strong candidate with following and financial strength. He is from Vizag Rural where there are more voters in this election.

He is also co-father-in-law (వియ్యంకుడు) of Janasena MLA Konathala Ramakrishna. So his candidature will also have the support of Janasena.

Peela Govind was denied a ticket in the recent Assembly elections as the seat was allocated to the Janasena Party.

Also, he hails from the Gavara community which is dominant in the area and so, he is a smart choice considering caste equations.

More importantly, there is a strong dissent in the area about Jagan fielding a non-local candidate, Peela Govind will bring the local factor to the table.

Anakapalle MP CM Ramesh is taking care of this election.

The By-election was necessitated due to the disqualification of sitting MLC Vamsi Krishna Srinivas who jumped from YSR Congress to Janasena just before the elections.

YSR Congress has a huge lead in the voters of Visakha local bodies. There are 841 voters out of which 615 are from YSR Congress. TDP has only 215 votes.

The TDP boycotted the 2020 elections at that time. However, the party’s fans and leaders contested and won in many areas.

But then, it will be a different ball game altogether with YSR Congress no longer in power. TDP will look to bag this seat at any cost.
