Finally, the long-standing drinking water problem for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, will be solved, thanks to the current government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

With the efforts made by the state government, the Environment and Forest Ministry of India gave permission to lay the pipelines to AIIMS.

The former YCP government didn’t try to solve this issue and as a result, there was a severe drinking water problem for AIIMS.

The Jagan’s government started work without obtaining enough permissions to lay the pipeline. Somehow, his government managed to get stage-1 permissions but it didn’t pay the road-cutting charges. Thus, the central government didn’t allow to take up work.

When the NDA came into power in June this year, AIIMS director Dr Madhubananda Bhaker met Chandrababu Naidu and informed him about the lack of a permanent water facility at the institute.

He told Chandrababu that students, doctors, professors and patients are facing a lot of difficulties due to this problem.

Chandrababu Naidu prioritized the issue and held talks with the officials of the Environment and Forest Ministry, the Collector and other health department officers. He ordered them to send an official request to the central ministry soon.

Due to Chandrababu Naidu’s personal involvement, this persisting issue is now being solved. The central government gave stage-2 permission for the works. The state government is expected to issue a GO soon regarding the same.

As soon as the GO is issued, an 850-meter pipeline will be laid into the institute which passes through the Kolanukonda hill which is located at the main entrance of the hospital.
