In the recent elections, YSR Congress drew a blank in the Erstwhile Srikakulam district.
Even BJP managed to win a seat against YSR Congress in the district, an indication of the level of anti-incumbency on the then Jagan Mohan Reddy Government.

In 2019, in the same district, YSR Congress won six out of the eight seats in the district.
Since the inception of the TDP, the Cycle Party is headed by the Kinjarapu family in the district. Dharmana family stood by Congress first and YSR Congress next.

Both of these families are from the dominant Velama community in the district.
When one of them are in power, the other side is in the Opposition.

As a result, both families always enjoyed plum political positions. It continued until recently.
After the 2024 elections, the Dharmana family has become completely inactive in the YSR Congress.
Dharmana Prasada Rao and Dharmana Krishna Das were the key Ministers in Jagan’s regime.
Jagan, at one point, also tried to encourage the Kalinga community.
Tammineni Sitaram, Duvvada Srinivas, Perada Tilak, and Killi Krupa Rani were encouraged from the community.
As a result, Tammineni Sitaram has got the Speaker Post, and Duvvada Srinivas was made an MLC.
Perada Tilak was made the Kalinga Corporation Chairman and was made the MP candidate of Srikakulam in 2024. But he failed to give minimum contest to Ram Mohan Naidu.
Former Union Minister Killi Krupa Rani left the party after being denied a ticket in the 2024 elections and immediately returned to Congress. That was even before the elections.
Tammineni is also inactive post the defeat and Duvvada with his extra-marital affair has become a liability to the party.
After experimenting with the Velama and Kalinga Communities, Jagan is now trying to woo the Toorpu Kapu community.
Former MLA Reddy Shanti and her brother, MLC Palavalasa Vikrant, are the only active leaders in the district.
Reddy Shanti was made the member of the crucial disciplinary committee of YSR Congress at the State-level. Jagan thinks Young face like Vikrant may be a good pick to attract the youth towards the party.
