Is Shah Rukh Khan’s Iconic Dialogue Extremely Boring?

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan managed to break many records after its release in January 2023. The superstar was praised for his grand comeback and the trailer created headlines before the film’s arrival on the big screen.

The dialogues were penned by Abbas Tyrewala, who has now claimed that there was a line said by SRK in the film that he never supported.

Notably, it was inspired by a quote from John F. Kennedy and SRK said those words towards the climax during his confrontation with John Abraham – “Ek soldier ye nahi poochta desh ne uske liye kya kiya, poochta hai who desh ke liye kya kar sakta hai.”

Abbas said in an interview that he never favored the line and although he tried to convince the makers, it did not work out. However, he also mentioned that he was possibly being too harsh.

He further stated that screenplay writer Shridhar Raghavan alongside producer Aditya Chopra and director Siddharth Anand were still convinced that it was the only line that was perfectly suitable for the sequence where it was told by Shah Rukh Khan on screen.

Abbas claimed that it was a boring line and admitted that since audiences have whistled and clapped in theatres after listening to the dialogue, it means that dialogue writers might not be correct most of the time.

Pathaan was a part of the YRF Spy Universe and a sequel to Pathaan was announced last year.

While the makers are yet to provide more updates on the shooting and a potential release date, it remains to be seen if Pathaan 2 can break the record of Pathaan by collecting more than Rs. 1,000 crores.
