Is Kamala Harris a ‘communist’? What Elon Musk said

Elon Musk on Wednesday called US presidential contender Kamala Harris a “communist” for being a vocal supporter of equitable distribution.
“Kamala is quite literally a communist. She wants not merely equal opportunity, but equal outcomes,” Musk said in a post on X.
The SpaceX CEO was responding to a post that said — “Kamala Harris is a communist and her word choices give it away.’Equitable distribution’ ‘equity’ It’s a repackaged version of Karl Marx’ popularized slogan ‘From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs’ meaning a redistribution of wealth.”

The user posted a video of Harris where she was explaining the difference between equality and equity saying that there was a need to fight for both.
“It has to be about a goal saying everybody should end up in the same place, and since we didn’t start in the same place, some folks might need more – equitable distribution,” Harris said in the video.
Some users, however, posted their voice of dissent replying to the Musk’s post.
“When will you stop using the words communism and socialism to describe phenomena in society that have absolutely nothing to do with this concept?,” a user Vera Bragina said.
“This statement is not accurate. Kamala Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and has not expressed support for communist ideology. While she does advocate for policies that promote equality and opportunity for all individuals, it is not accurate to label her as a communist. It is important to be cautious of spreading misinformation about political figures,” said another user Dastan.

Elon Musk has openly endorsed Republican Donald Trump and even confirmed that he had been making donations to a super political action committee supporting Trump’s presidential campaign. This came after there were reports of the Tesla CEO pledging to donate $45 million per month to the GOP presidential candidate, which Musk declined.
“What’s been reported in the media is simply not true. I am not donating $45 million a month to Trump,” he had said.
