Is He Blaming Devara or Kanguva?

    Director Shankar

Shankar recently revealed about adapting the Velpari novel by S. Venkatesan into a film, a project that began during the Covid lockdown. However, he is now frustrated that an upcoming film has allegedly borrowed key plot points and scenes from the novel without permission.

Taking to Twitter/X, Shankar expressed his concerns, stating that as the copyright holder, he was disturbed to see important scenes from the novel featured in a recent movie trailer.

He urged filmmakers to respect creators’ rights and warned against unauthorized adaptations, threatening legal action for infringement.

Social media is buzzing with speculation about which upcoming film Shankar is referring to. Many believe it could be NTR’s Devara or Suriya’s Kanguva, both of which had their trailers released recently, with Devara being the latest.

There’s a stronger likelihood that Devara is the film in question, as Suriya, being from Tamil cinema, may be less inclined to lift scenes from Velpari, especially knowing Shankar was already working on the adaptation.

Shankar had big plans for the Velpari adaptation, considering major stars like Ram Charan, Ranveer Singh, and KGF Yash for pivotal roles. However, the controversy threatens to derail his vision for the project.
