IPL 2025 could witness a first-time event no fan would wish for. All eyes are on Kolkata’s weather as rain is expected to play a spoilsport in the opening match between KKR and RCB.
If it does happen, it will be the first-ever IPL opener to be washed out. But is there still hope for some action?

In case of rain, the match time can be extended by an hour, allowing play to start as late as 8:30 pm for a full 20-over per side game. After that, overs will start getting reduced.
The latest possible end time is 12:06 am. Therefore, at worst, a 5-over-per-side match could happen if the ground is ready for play by 10:56 pm. That would make KKR vs RCB the shortest IPL opener in 18 editions.

But if the conditions are still not suitable to play, the match will be abandoned and both sides will get 1 point each to start their tournament. However, all fans have their fingers crossed, hoping to see a full match between the two rivals.
