By Ankita Garg: While we are very far away from the launch of the iPhone 15 series, the leaks have already painted a good picture of the upcoming set of iPhones. Hence, we know a lot of things, including specifications and design, of the 2023 iPhones. If you are waiting for the launch of the next-generation iPhones, then keep reading to know everything about it that has leaked so far.

iPhone 15 series: expected launch timeline

The iPhone 15 series will likely launch in September this year if we go by most of the previous launch events for iPhones. To recall, the iPhone 14 series was announced in India in the second week of September last year. It is way too early for the company to reveal the official launch date for the iPhone 15 series, but it is expected to introduce the next generation devices during the same time.

iPhone 15 series: Expected price

The iPhone 15 is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 80,000 and the price of the Pro model will likely cost around Rs 1,30,000 if the company plans to decide the new phones at the old prices. To recall, the iPhone 14 was launched in India for Rs 79,900, whereas the iPhone 14 Pro model was made available for Rs 1,29,900.

iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max: Leaked design

All the models in the new lineup are tipped to come with a punch-hole display design. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are said to offer traditional button design and Apple could skip its buttonless design because of production-related issues. It was recently reported that the new buttons would require the company to incorporate three new haptic engines in the iPhones and this could delay the production line. Hence, the tech giant is reportedly planning to skip the new design. This means that one might get to see the two-button design for adjusting volume. But, this doesn’t mean that the company isn’t considering making any other changes in the design of the upcoming iPhones.

The leaks claim that Apple plans to replace the old Mute switch button with a new one and it might work like customisable Action button seen on Apple Watch Ultra. This will only be limited to Pro models and the regular versions of the iPhone 15 will have the old mute switch feature. We would continue to see large camera bumps on the rear panel of the flagship phones, as per the leaks.

Apple is also tipped to offer the iPhone 15 series with thinner bezels to give users more screen space for a better content-consuming experience. So far, many leaks have already pointed out that consumers can expect to see a USB Type-C port instead of Apple’s Lightning port on this year’s iPhones. In addition to this, the Pro models are also said to come with more rounded frames for a better grip on the devices. Apple isn’t expected to bundle a charge in the retail box of the iPhone 15 series because the company stopped offering it with the launch of the iPhone 12 series.

iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max: Leaked specifications

The iPhone 15 will likely pack Apple’s Bionic A16 chipset under the hood, which powered last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models. This is something that the company started last year – offering one-year flagship phone lower priced models. Hence, the same is expected to happen with the new ones too. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will likely use the company’s new Bionic A17 processor because these will be Apple’s most expensive phones of the year.

In terms of optics, the regular versions are said to feature 48-megapixel cameras that we have seen on the Pro models of iPhone 14 series. This would be a major upgrade over the 12-megapixel sensors seen on the existing iPhone models. But, one should not expect to see a telephoto lens for optical zoom or a LiDAR on the standard models because this will reportedly be available only with the higher-end models. The Pro Max model is said to have a more prominent camera module, which is said to include up to 5-6x optical zoom-enabled periscope lenses, apart from other sensors.

The battery and charging details are still unknown. It is high time for Apple to offer support for faster charging speeds because even budget Android phones offer support for at least 30W charging tech. The devices that are priced under Rs 30,000 come with 80W fast charging, but iPhones have support for only 20W tech, which takes a lot of time to fully charge the battery.
