Investigation Officer Changed in RRR Case

Investigation Officer Changed in RRR Case

In a significant development in the harassment case involving Undi MLA Raghu Rama Krishna Raju (RRR), the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government has made the decision to change the investigating officer. Previously, Guntur District Administration Department ASP Ramanamurthy was handling the investigation, but the case has now been transferred to Prakasam SP Damodar.

This shift is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to expedite the investigation process in several high-profile cases. The case was initially filed following RRR’s allegation that CID police used third-degree methods on him while in custody, which led to a formal complaint registered by the Guntur City Police.

ASP Ramanamurthy was conducting the investigation, but there were growing concerns regarding the pace and effectiveness of the inquiry. Reports suggest that Ramanamurthy’s interrogation of the previous investigating officer, Vijaya Pal, was more of a “friendly discussion,” and it is rumored that Vijaya Pal did not take the questioning seriously, even failing to respond to the ASP’s questionnaire.

In light of these delays and to ensure a more thorough investigation, the case has now been handed over to SP Damodar of Prakasam, with instructions for the ASP to immediately transfer all case records. This transfer is seen as a move to bring fresh momentum to the investigation and to ensure that justice is served swiftly, particularly as the case has generated substantial attention.

This change is part of a broader pattern, with the state government recently transferring high-profile cases like the attack on the TDP Central Office, the attack on Chandrababu Naidu’s residence, and the Kaadambari Jethwani case to the AP CID. These cases are being closely monitored, given their political and public significance.
