Thousands of Indians move to Canada to pursue a higher degree or for better work opportunities. The most common path followed by Indians to obtain a permanent residency in Canada is to pursue a college degree in the country and then take up temporary employment. The Canadian government is planning to change this and has introduced new policies which are going to impact many Indians.
Thousands of Indians came on streets to protest the proposed changes by the Canadian government which aims to limit jobs for foreign nationals. Tens of thousands of jobs are going to be cut for Indians and other foreign nationals in Canada.

The proposed changes will come into effect on the 26th of September 2024. This can have a large scale impact on Indians as Canada is one of the top destinations for many Indians. The government of Canada has said that it is time to put Canadian youth first.
