Indians often think life in a developed country is like a modern utopia. But the ground reality remains far from this optimistic vision.
Ishan Sharma, an Indian YouTuber, recently shared a video on X, exposing the so-called tech capital of the United States, San Francisco. It showed the haunting image of the streets filled with homeless, mentally unstable, and drug-addicted people.

It was depressing to see the home of the world’s brightest minds in such a decrepitated state. The 22-year-old YouTuber even called it “the most unsafe place” with all the “zombie-like people walking on the streets.”
The blatant disregard from the government is seen on the ground and it seems even the tech companies have abandoned the city. An X user replied to the viral post saying that the startups have shifted to Austin, Texas, and property prices have dropped 90% since 2016.

The video not only bursts the bubble of Ishan’s Indian audience but also highlights a much larger issue. It confronts the harsh reality of San Francisco’s decline and asks the important question of why there is no action to fight it.
It breaks my heart watching this.
This is San Francisco.
The tech capital of America.
Home to the world’s brightest minds.
AND the biggest tech companiesIs also the most unsafe place I’ve been to.
