Ever since Donald Trump assumed office for his second term as U.S. President, the entire Indian immigrant community, especially those on temporary visas like H1-B has been losing sleep. This is because no one knows what changes Trump might introduce, given his reputation for being strict on immigration rules.
One story that has come to light involves Indian parents who landed at Newark Airport on B-1/B-2 visas and were denied entry because they had not booked return flight tickets in advance.

The parents had come to the U.S. to visit their children and planned to stay for five months. However, the immigration officer at the port of entry informed them that, under new2025 rules, a return ticket is now mandatory.
Despite their requests, the parents were sent back to India directly from the airport.

This situation is unprecedented, as there has been no official announcement that return tickets are mandatory for visitors to the U.S. In this instance, the immigration officer stated that, according to the new 2025 rules, visitors must arrive in the U.S. with a return ticket.
The changes were communicated at the port of entry, but there was no prior notice or clarification about what had changed or what might change in the near future.
