An Indian origin CEO of a tech company has come under fire after a sexist promotion campaign by the company made its way to social media. Nikesh Arora, CEO of Palo Alto Networks, has publicly apologized after there was a huge backlash against the company for using women as props.
At an event in Las Vegas, Nevada, the company made two women wear lampshades and used them as props. It is said that the campaign was inspired by the 1960s ‘booth babe’ culture in which women were used as ‘objects of attraction’ for events largely attended by men.
