Indian Family’s Horrific Death On US Border

Two people have been arrested for illegal smuggling of immigrants into the US which caused an Indian family of four to die.

Jagdish Patel, his wife Vishaliben, and two children aged 11 and 3 were part of a group of 11 migrants that tried to cross the US border from Canada in the hope of a better life. After being stranded for hours, the family succumbed to the -38°C temperature and died.

Harshkumar Patel and Steve Shand were caught related to this horrific incident. The two will be put on trial for smuggling migrants across the US-Canada border starting Monday.

The sad reality is that Jagdish and his family were relatively well-off living in Dingucha village in Gujarat. But they were driven by the pressure to achieve the “good life” that many friends and neighbors flaunted.

The smuggling networks feed on this dream and charge up to $90,000 per person to give them a “ticket to success.” They sell them a false dream without mentioning the risks involved with the operation.

Millions of Indians try to go to the US every year just so they can escape poverty and debt traps. This tragedy exposes how this desire is exploited and puts innocents in danger.
