Indian Cricket Legend Yuvaraj Singh Biopic: An Overkill?

The first Indian biopic that worked big time at the box office is that of MS Dhoni’s. This biopic featured Sushant Singh Rajput and it was a mega blockbuster at the box office.

What this biopic did was start a new precedent that later turned very monotonous. We later saw the biopic of Sachin – A Billion Dreams. Despite Sachin’s godly image amongst Indians, his biopic went nowhere at the box office.

Then came 83, featuring Ranveer Singh. This film is based on India’s historic win in the 1983 cricket World Cup and soft promotes Kapil Dev. This film later turned out to be one of the biggest disasters of all time in terms of box office returns.

Now, there is another biopic of an Indian cricketing legend in the making and it is Yuvraj Singh this time around.

Apparently, the biopic of Yuvraj Singh is in the making now and the film is to be mounted by T Series, it seems. This film is likely to be announced soon, say reports.

Though Yuvraj had an illustrious career and had enough cinematic highs including winning the World Cup while having cancer, but the biopic might be an overkill.

The Indian cinema audiences are so done with biopics and more so with those of cricketers. This was seen in the case of 83 very recently. Despite this happening, pushing for a biopic of Yuvraj now appears to be a clear case of overkill.
