Russia has made a lot of enemies since it invaded Ukraine and in the ongoing war. Amid all this, the USA remains on high alert and has charged an Indian national for conspiring with its Cold War rival.
Sanjay Kaushik, 57, is accused by the US of planning to export controlled aviation components to Russia. He was arrested a month ago and was indicted on Thursday, as per the Department of Justice.

There were plans in place to export items with both civilian and military uses. This includes sending a navigation and flight control system to Russia via Indian channels.
The court documents reveal Kaushik had been planning his operation since March 2023 and illegally gained access to the US Aerospace. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine for each count.

The 57-year-old is also facing charges of forging illegal documents of export. These goods were falsely claimed to be for Kaushik’s Indian company but were meant for Russian end users.
As Russia and Ukraine are showing no signs of stopping the war, other countries will try to mitigate the tensions, especially by curbing such illegal exports that can strengthen the Russian invading force.
