That wicket of Healy has changed the situation somewhat but there is no doubt that Australia remain on top. India need to tighten up their fielding, there have been dropped catches thus far. 

It’s Devika Vaidya who has got the breakthrough, what a great comeback she is making to international cricket. Low full toss and Healy hits it straight to cover.

And effortless from the Australians in general. That shot takes them to 68/0 in 8 overs. 

No wickets gone yet, which will be a major cause of worry for India. This is Australia after all and they are known to do make some difficult chases look like child’s play. 

Mooney gets the third ball of the sixth over past third man for her fifth boundary. 

Mooney is on 10 runs off 16 balls, Healy on 15 off 8. It hasn’t been the fastest of starts for Australia but they haven’t lost a wicket in the first four overs, which is always a positive sign for them. 

Third ball of the fourth over is in the slot outside off and Healy hits it through covers for the boundary. 

And now a close call for Mooney! The Australian openers are living a charmed life at the moment. It was a rather difficult chance though. Second ball of the third over is sent to the left of backward point. The fielder dives accross but can’t get it to stick in her hands. 

Almost a wicket off the last ball of the first over for Renuka Singh. She induces an outside edge from Healy and it flies just past the diving slip fielder. Australia 7/0 after the first over.

Wow what an end to that innings. Deepti Sharma has dragged India, screaming and crying, past the 170-run mark. Their best batters didn’t really click today but Richa Ghosh, Devika Vaidya and Deepti Sharma have all made up for that. However, India will know that there is no par score when facing Australia. There is a very good chance that they might still win this match by 10 wickets. India have their work cut out but that late assault has certainly given them the kind of chance that didn’t seem on the cards when Harmanpreet had fallen. 

Sweep again and the fifth ball of the over goes to fine leg.

Swept again by Deepti and that goes for four to backward square leg. What an end this is to the Indian innings!

Miscommunication between the fielders at the boundary, not something we see too often from Australia. That takes India to take four runs off the second ball of the last over. 

Deepti Sharma getting into the groove now. She first pulls the third ball of the 19th over, a thigh high full toss, towards deep midwicket. That takes India to 150. She then hits the next ball down the ground for another. 

And that ends the assault. Ghosh skips down the track trying to go big, misses the ball and Alyssa Healy makes no mistake with the stumping. Very good time for Australia to take this wicket.

It has come in just 29 balls. India are 126/4 in 16.1 overs and this stand has put them in a strong position. 

Jess Jonassen bowling the 15th, the second delivery is full around off and Devika Vaidya smashes that over deep midwicket for six. She is returning to international cricket afeter an eight-year hiatus and it is looking like she could strike up a match-defining stand bere with Richa Ghosh. 

The second, third and fourth balls of the 14th over sent to the boundary by Richa Ghosh. India end up taking 16 runs from that over and they have crossed over into three figures. 

India in all kinds of trouble now. Harmanpreet tries to lift if over cover, ends up hitting it straight to the fielder there. First international wicket for Kim Garth in Australia colours.

Sutherland sends the fourth ball it in short of a length outside off, Harmanpreet pulls it to backward square leg. Much needed boundary for India. 

Short and wide from Sutherland, Mandhana connects with no power or timing and sends it to point for a low catch.

First boundary of the match for Harmanpreet Kaur comes off Ash Gardner. Full length outside off and she drives that through covers for four. 

India are 48/2. Smriti Mandhana on 25 off 16, captain Harmanpreet Kaur on one off four.

Ellyse Perry strikes again. Three dot balls puts Jemimah under the pump. She goes for a big heave, miscues it completely and holes out at mid-on.

Mandhana pushes the last ball through covers for the fourth four of the over. India are 45/1 and flying. 

Kim Garth bowling the fourth over and she is getting a hiding, although she was rather unlucky with that third one. Her first ball is well wide outside off, Healy does well to collect it. Mandhana then pushes the next delivery for four towards the offside. The second one is smashed to midwicket for another boundary and then the third ball takes an inside edge and goes past the keeper for a four.

The Shafali party ends as abruptly as it started. Perry gets the breakthrough for Australia. Some extra bounce outside off, Shafali goes fishing and nicks to the Australian captain.

Shafali off to a bit of a flying start here. The third ball of the third over is short of a good length from Elysse Perry, takes the inside edge for a rather lucky four for Shafali. She then smashes the next ball to the offside of a six. 

Third delivery of the second over, just short of a good length, Mandhana cuts it away to the boundary.  

Shafal picks the last ball of the over from her hips and pulls it beyond the mid-off boudary. Good start for India.

Right, here they are! The Australian anthem comes first and then India’s Jana Gana Mana. The visitors then go into a huddle, where their new skipper Alyssa Healy says something, makes them all laugh and then they break. Shafali Verma is out in the middle taking guard with Smriti Mandhana at the other end. 

We have’t played here before. Hopefully would want to stuck into this Indian line up. It has been a long time we have been here. This great series and it has been a long time we have been here. We have a debutant.

We wanted to bowl first. Batting isn’t that bad. We have one debutant. Anjali has been good and she brings in experience from domestic cricket. We have different variety in bowling. We want to continue with some good momentum.

Was in the gold medal match in the Commonwealth Games and it was a game that truly lived up to its billing. Australia put up a total of 161/8 and India seemed to be cruising at 118/2. However, you can never take it easy against Australia and India ended up collapsing to a score of 152 all out. This was the second game between the two sides at the CWG, the first being another scintillating encounter in the historic first match of the Games. That was another humdinger and Australa had won that by three wickets.

“We have to play good cricket now, taking a lot of responsibility as a team. Every tournament, we are reaching finals, but we are yet to win that big trophy. But the way we are playing, a lot of things have changed in the country.”

Australia’s T20I numbers in 2022 are just crazy. They haven’t lost a single match this year, that’s a first of its kind for the Aussies where they have played more than 10 T20Is in a calendar year. They won eight of their 11 matches while two others ended in a no result and one was abandoned.

India have been impressive in the format in 2022, winning 13 of their 20 matches which included an Asia Cup title and a silver medal in CWG. In terms of W/L ration, this has been their second-best year after 2008 when they had won 16 of their 26 matches.
