Lockie Ferguson concedes just three runs in the final over as IND pile an enormous 385/9 in 50 overs.

Hardik Pandya welcomes Jacob Duffy with a six and then completes a double to bring up his half-century. He reaches the milestone in 36 balls. 

Pandya continues his show as he hits Duffy for another boundary towards the cover region. However, he is caught in the deep in the same over as he is dismissed for 54(38). IND: 380/8 (48.5 overs) 

Tickner stars the 47th over with a short ball, which is pulled by Pandya for a six. He then passes the strike to Shardul Thakur in the following delivery.

Thakur takes a single and passes the strike back to Pandya.

Thakur then goes on to hit Tickner for a six but is dismissed in the final ball of the over. His cameo comes to an end as he departs for 25 (17). IND: 367/7 (48 overs) 

Shardul Thakur hits Lockie Ferguson for a boundary. 10 runs come off the over as India breach the 350-mark. IND: 352/6 (47 overs) 

Hardik Pandya is now changing gears as he hits Jacob Duffy for a six, then goes on to hit a four in the same over. He almost got a second four but brilliant fielding by Daryl Mitchell saves the ball from reaching the ropes. 

Thakur then finishes the over with a boundary as 17 runs come off it. IND: 342/6 (11 overs)

Tickner concedes four runs in his over as India move to 325/6 after 45 overs.

Just a couple of singles come in the 44th over by Santner as IND reach 321/6. 

Mitchell Santner concedes three runs in the 42nd over. 

Tickner strikes in the next as Washington Sundar falls for 9 (14). 

Shardul Thakur is the new batter in. IND: 314/6 (42.3 overs)

Washington Sundar and Hardik Pandya combine to hit Jacob Duffy for a boundary each as 11 runs come of the over. IND: 309/5 (41 overs)

Another tight over by Lockie Ferguson as four runs come off his over. IND: 298/5 (40 overs) 

NZ strike again and it’s wicket number two for Jacob Duffy. He packs Suryakumar Yadav for 14(9). 

Washington Sundar is the new batter in. IND: 294/5 (39 overs)

Lockie Ferguson is introduced into the attack and he starts off with a tight over as just one run come off it. IND: 292/4 (38 overs)

NZ show signs of fightback as Virat Kohli falls for 36 (27). He tries to clear the infield against Jacob Duffy but is caught brilliantly by Allen at covers. 

Hardik Pandya joins Suryakumar Yadav in the middle. IND: 285/4 (36.4 overs)  

Suryakumar Yadav hits a six moments after he arrives in the middle. 11 runs come off Bracwell’s over. IND: 284/3 (36 overs)

A mix-up in the middle as both the batters end up running towards the same end. Ishan Kishan loses his wicket in the process as he departs for 17 (24).

Bracewell bowls it short and wide, enough room for Ishan to open his arms, which he does. The ball races towards the fence, square of the wicket. IND: 267/2 (34 overs)

Four runs come off the over by Bracewell. 

Ishan Kishan decides to change his bat and hits Santner for a six in the next over. Nine runs come off Santner’s over. IND: 260/2 (33 overs) 

Another tight over by Santner as New Zealand show some signs of fightback. Four runs come off the over. IND: 247/2 (31 overs)

Kohli takes charge as he hits Tickner for consecutive fours. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan has played seven balls but is yet to get off the mark. IND: 243/2 (30 overs)

Santner bowls a tight over as just one run come off it. IND: 231-2 (29 overs)

NZ strike in quick succession as Tickner provides the visitors with another important breakthrough. Shubman Gill falls for 112 (78). IND: 230/2 (28 overs)

Rohit Sharma departs after completing his century. He is cleaned up by Mitchell Santner. The capatain scored 101 off 85 balls, which featured nine 4s and six 6s.

Virat Kohli is the new batter in and he gets off the mark straightaway.

Rohit Sharma guides a length ball by Tickner towards the square leg region to complete a single. And with that he also brings up his 100. He takes 83 deliveries to reach the milestone. 

Gill too reaches his 100 as he gets an outside edge, which goes wide off the keeper for a boundary. He reaches the milestone in 72 balls

Rohit, Gill don’t take risk as six runs come off Bracewell’s over as IND reach 204/0 at the halfway mark. 

Lockie Ferguson has been the most economical so far. He starts off with two dots against Rohit, before he hits it towards the third man to rotate the strike. 

The next ball is an inside edge off Gill’s bat, which beats the keeper and races for a boundary. IND: 199/0 (24 overs)

Michael Bracewell is introduced into the attack. He is hit for a cracking four towards cover by Gill, who follows it up with a six towards the mid-wicket region. Gill also moves into his 90s.

13 runs come off his over. IND: 193/0 (23 overs)

Ferguson is reintroduced into the attack and he starts well. Just two runs come off it. IND: 180/0 (22 overs)

Rohit mistimes a shot against Daryl Mitchell but the shorter boundaries saves the Indian skipper as it beats the log-on fielder and goes for a six. 

The captain then guides the ball just past the keeper, fine enough to beat the short third-man fielder as it results in a four. Rohit moves into his 90s. IND: 178/0 (21 overs)

Good over by Santner as just three singles come off it. IND: 165/0 (20 overs)

Shubman Gill welcomes Daryl Mitchell with a boundary and then passes the strike to Rohit, who hits him for another couple. The fourth delivery keeps low and beats everyone on its way to reach the fence. 14-run come off the over. IND: 162/0 (19 overs)

Santner starts off with a four-run over after the drinks interval as Rohit and Gill stitch a 150-plus stand. IND: 151/0 (18 overs)

Daryl Mitchell is welcomed with a boundary by Rohit Sharma. He flicks it towards the mid-wicket region in the gap. Seven runs come off the over. IND: 147/0 (17 overs)

Shubman Gill too continues the attack from the other end as he hits Mitchell Santner for a four in the first ball and finishes the over with a six. IND: 140/0 (16 overs)

New Zealand introduce Daryl Mitchell into the attack and Rohit welcomes him with a boundary. He then goes on to hit him for a couple more before rotating the strike. 14 runs come off the over. IND: 128/0 (15 overs)

Rohit hits Mitchell Santner for a six as he too completes his half-century. He takes 41 deliveries to reach the milestone. 

He then goes on to hit the spinner for another maximum. IND: 114/0 (14 overs)

Gill and Rohit bring up the 100-run partnership in 78 balls. IND: 101/0 (13 overs)

Shubman Gill hits half-century off 33 balls as New Zealand bring in Mitchell Santner into the attack. IND: 97/0 (12 overs) 

Tickner bowls it down the leg stump, which is guided by Gill behind the stumps. It beats the wicketkeeper by inches and races towards the fence.

Rohit Sharma, however, takes on Duffy in the next over as he hits him for a couple of sixes and one four. 17 runs come off it as India muster 82/0 in the first powerplay. 

Shubman Gill is on fire as he hits Ferguson for three boundaries in four balls. He then hits the pacer for a SIX towards the square of the wicket. He then finishes the over with another boundary. 22 runs come in a over. IND: 64/0 (8 overs)

New Zealand make bowling change as they introduce Blair Tickner. He is driven towards the cover by Shubman Gill. The bowler then concedes another four, thick outside edge off Rohit Sharma’s bat, which beats the wicketkeeper and races for a boundary. IND: 42/0 (7 overs)

A maiden over by Ferguson. IND: 31/0 (6 over)

Duffy bangs it short and Gill pulls it for a six towards the fine leg region, taking full advantage of the small boundaries. 

Rohit joins the party as Duffy bowls it full, which the Indian skipper connects it from the middle of the bat. The ball sails past the bowler, for a maximum.

A tight over by Ferguson as he bowls an extra in the form of a wide and concedes just one single. Two runs come off the over. IND: 17/0 (4 overs)

Duffy bowls it full and wide and Rohit opens his arms and connects it from the middle of his blade for a boundary towards covers.

The bowler beats him in the second delivery, but the following ball also results in a four, as Rohit flicks it towards the on-side.

Shubman Gill opens the face of his bat and guides a good length ball by Lockie Ferguson towards the third-man region for a boundary. 

The bowler then manages to get the ball angle towards Gill, which takes an inside edge and hits his pads.

Jacob Duffy is extracting good bounce but no threat so far. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma timed two shots from the middle of his blade before he opted for a lofted drive. Lucky for him as it goes away from the infield. He completes a double. IND: 3/0 (1 over)

A great news for fans as we will see the iconic pair of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal reuniting in the contest. The pair has delivered some of the exceptional performances in the past and the fans will hope for a repeat tonight.

As we minutes away from the toss, here’s a quick series recap: 

1st ODI: India won by 12 runs, Shubman Gill scored a double ton and helped India pile an enormous 349/8 batting first. New Zealand started the contest on a slow note but explosive batting by Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner filled life into the contest. They took New Zealand close to the 350-run target but the tourists could only manage 337/10 in 49.2 overs, with Bracewell being the last batter dismissed. 

2nd ODI: The second ODI was a one-sided affair as Indian bowling attack led by Mohammed Shami steamrolled through the Kiwi line, bundling them for 108 in 34.3 overs. India chased down the target comfortably and wrapped the proceedings in just 20.1 overs, winning the match by eight wickets.

India marked their preparations for the World Cup on a strong note, completing a clean sweep over Sri Lanka. Now the Men In Blue have another opportunity to repeat the feat as we draw closer to the showpiece event, which will be played later this year in India. 

If we look at the team combination, the batting order will likely remain the same. But there could be one or two tweaks in bowling, considering the workload management. 

Mohammed Shami is the seniormost pacer in the unit, with Jasprit Bumrah still ailing from his back injury. With the contest being a dead rubber and the World Cup fast approaching, the management might want to give him a slight break. If that is the case Umran Malik come into the XI. It’ll also be a preparation for the youngsters as he will be one of India’s key bowler in the T20Is, which will start from Friday. 

Yuzvendra Chahal could also get some game time, and can be seen replacing Kuldeep Yadav. 

England currently lead the ICC ODI rankings and are followed by New Zealand. India are placed third, however, a win here will take them to the pole position.

The weather forecast looks promising as Indore is set to an ODI after a wait of five years. The last time and ODI was played here, India had chased down the 290-run target quite comfortably. 

With two back-to-back defeats, New Zealand’s morale will be mentally down and with pride at stake, they will be seeking a consolation win!

There is zero percent chance of rain, so fans can see full 100 overs being played. The temperature is expected to be around 27 and 19 degrees Celsius, with cloud cover at 30 percent and humidity at 40 percent.

In the first ODI, Shami took a wicket in 10 overs, but proved to be expensive, conceding 69 runs. In the second ODI, he put his skill-set on the forefront with a three-wicket haul in six overs, conceding only 18 runs and also bagged a maiden! He will be aiming to take it a notch higher today!

Focus will be on Shubman Gill after the young opener smacked a double hundred in the first ODI and followed it with an unbeaten knock of 40 runs in the next match. A big score by the batter today?
