India vs Australia: Ravichandran Ashwin closing in on Harbhajan Singh’s record against Australia | Cricket News


NEW DELHI: India’s premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin‘s love affair with Australia is no secret. Ashwin has played 18 Tests against Australia and taken 89 wickets, which is the most for him against a single Test-playing nation.
The veteran off-spinner is once again ready to roll his arm over against the Aussies in a four-Test home series, hoping to take that number past the 100 mark.
The 36-year-old Ashwin, who has 449 Test wickets to his name, needs six more wickets to go past former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who took 95 wickets against Australia in 18 Tests.
Overall, spin legend Anil Kumble is the highest wicket-taker for India in Tests against Australia. He took 111 wickets in the 20 Tests he played against the Aussies.
