Former couple Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen are once again making headlines due to their personal differences. Days after she relocated to Bikaner citing financial struggles in Mumbai, her ex-husband Rajeev Sen slammed her for lying about what was really happening and keeping their daughter away from him. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he claimed she recently went on an expensive cruise trip along with her brother and sister-in-law, where she paid for their tickets.
He even claimed that she has been actively looking to buy a property in Bikaner, which anyone with financial struggles can never think of. Now, reacting to his claims, Charu took to her Instagram Stories to share an article and wrote, “Wow, that’s beautiful, whatever I do is always drama for this man.”
She then shared a detailed reason behind her decision to relocate to Bikaner in her latest vlog, and called it a “calculated move” to give a stable life and education to her daughter Ziana. Earlier reports suggested that she has moved to her home town because she cannot afford to live in Mumbai, and is now making a living selling women’s clothing
Charu said, “In the past few days, I am seeing that a video of me with my salwar kameez collection is going viral, not because the collection is nice, but because of the captions they are using: ‘Bechari Charu suit bech ke guzara kar rahi hai’.” She clarified that she is not living in poverty.

Charu, who has decided to not be a part of daily soaps to take care of her daughter Ziana, said she is open to take up projects that for short period of time, like ads and web series. “I am relocating because my priorities and focus in life has changed. There was a time when my work was everything for me, but now nothing is more important than my daughter. When I am not working in daily soaps, I don’t see why I should live such an expensive life in Mumbai.”
She also addressed Rajeev’s claims of her looking to buy a house and said, “The money I am paying in Mumbai as rent can be EMI in a place like Bikaner where I can soon own the house. I want a stable house for Ziana. I can’t always live on rent. I want to give her stable school life. Here, in Bikaner, my daughter can live with their grandparents and not nannies when I am away for work.”
The entire controversy started after a video of Charu selling salwar kameez and sarees for a living in Bikaner went viral. Later, in an interview with Hindustan Times, she said, “It is very expensive to live in a city like Mumbai. My monthly expenses were coming upto Rs 1.5 lakh including rent.” She then relocated to her hometown Bikaner, where she lives with her parents.

When Rajeev Sen was asked about his ex-wife’s financial situation, the actor accused her of creating drama and telling lies about her financial struggles. In an interview with the same media publication, Rajeev accused Charu of keeping their daughter Ziana away from him and not responding to his messages.
He said, “Even last month, I told her—come home, give our child a chance. Not that we need to get married again, but at least she’ll have her own house, her own space. But I don’t know what’s going on in her mind. Maybe too many people are influencing her, but at some point, she has to take responsibility and think long term about what’s truly best for her and for Ziana.”
The spat between the two has come just weeks after their Dubai trip together. They had celebrated New Year together as a family in Dubai. Pictures and videos of the same are still intact on Rajeev’s Instagram handle. Rajeev, who is the younger brother of actor Sushmita Sen, married Charu in 2019. In 2021, the couple welcomed Ziana. They divorced in 2023.
