Indian eyewear giant Lenskart is setting up the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing factory in Hyderabad by investing a total of more than Rs. 1500 crore.
Lenskart Co-founder Amit Chaudhary signed an MoU with the government of Telangana earlier today in the presence of Telangana industries and IT minister D Sridhar Babu.

Reportedly, the manufacturing plant will be set up at Fab City. The land has been identified and will be handed over to the company this week. It was stated that Lenskart may also set up an R&D facility in Telangana in the future.
This manufacturing plant will create more than 2100 jobs. It will make eyewear, lenses, sunglasses and accessories which will be sold in India and also be exported to other countries in South East Asia and the Middle East.

Amit Chaudhary said that the company explored various other states to set up its plant but finalised Telangana due to its speed and ease of doing business.
The MoU was signed at an event which was a part of one-year celebrations of the Congress government. MoUs worth Rs. 7600 crores, including Lenskart, were signed today at the event. These will generate more than 5200 jobs in the state.
