Many people in the Hyderabad metro had to plug their ears and look at each other in sheer confusion, as the ‘fans’ of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu began chanting slogans on his name right in the metro.
The regular passengers, including little children, could do nothing more but sit in confusion, as shouts of “Jai Jai Babu… Babulake Babu” echoed right and left.

The fans were apparently returning after watching the re-release of ‘Guntur Kaaram’ a film that was a total flop despite Mahesh’s praised performance and energetic dance moves.
Perhaps it was this ‘energy’ that riled up his fans, so much so that they did not think twice before creating a scene and disrespecting the moral conduct of a public place.

Naturally, many on social media were livid after the incident came to light. A lot of people came forward to express their views in the comments.
One user said, “Such behaviour is unacceptable in a public place. Fans should act responsibly. Hyderabad deserves better!”

Another expressed his frustration as he wrote, “What a shame! Metro services are for everyone, not for fan wars or celebrations.”
Some so-called ‘fans’ were quick to defend the actions, despite clearly being in the wrong.
The situation can be best summed up by the comment of this one supposed fan, saying, “Every fan group does this. Why only target Mahesh Babu fans? Let people celebrate their love for cinema.”
It should be evident by now that the actions of a small minority of these ‘fans’ act only as a dent to the reputation of their idol, bringing them to shame.
Fans should learn to respect the boundaries of public spaces, while realising their own basic civic duties of not making others feel uncomfortable in public.
