Hyderabad is witnessing a troubling social media trend where influencers hide or throw cash in public places to gain attention, causing chaos and public nuisance.
The influencers call it “Treasure Hunt Hyderabad.” this trend has led to traffic disruptions and safety concerns across the city.

Instagram accounts like @treasurehunthyderabad have been posting videos of cash being hidden in envelopes at public spots like DMart in Annojiguda or the Famous Ice Cream parlour. These envelopes often display the user’s Instagram handle to attract followers.
In a related incident, two influencers were seen riding a bike in a crowded market, throwing bundles of cash into the air. Videos of such acts are meant to garner attention. They show people scrambling to pick up the notes, leading to chaos in the market.

Additionally, Ghatkesar police registered a case against a social media influencer, Bhanuchander, also known as Anchor Chandu, for hiding cash along the Outer Ring Road (ORR).
His videos show him placing ₹100 and ₹200 notes in bushes and challenging followers to find them. This act caused traffic disruptions as people stopped their vehicles to join the hunt.

The police have taken strict action, registering cases under Sections 125 and 292 of the Bharat National Standards (BNS) Act and Section 8(b) of the National Highways Act (NHA). Telangana DGP Dr. Jitendra called these stunts foolish and warned the youth not to participate in such activities.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid these dangerous hunts and report such incidents. While these acts may seem entertaining online, they pose significant risks to public safety and create unnecessary disturbances in the city.
