H-1B Visa Scam

It’s become well-known in the U.S. that some Indian consultancy firms and shell companies are fraudulently filing multiple H-1B visa applications for the same candidate. Both the U.S. government and the Home Department are aware of this issue.

Last year the Biden government started cracking down on these fraudulent practices, leading many Indian CEOs to wind down their U.S. businesses and return to India.

One prominent figure who has now come under investigation is Kandi Srinivasa Reddy, an Indian-American businessman.

He is accused of manipulating the H-1B visa lottery system by using a network of companies to exploit visa process loopholes.

Srinivasa Reddy is accused of rigging the H-1B visa lottery. He did this by submitting multiple visa applications for the same person under different company names, increasing their chances of winning the lottery.

His companies, like Cloud Big Data Technologies LLC and Machine Learning Technologies LLC, submitted thousands of entries, securing hundreds of H-1B visas.

Srinivasa Reddy claims he was just an agent for these companies, but documents suggest he and his wife controlled these entities. His actions not only disadvantaged honest companies but also manipulated the lottery system.

Since 2020, Srinivasa Reddy’s candidates have won over 300 visas, with 54 in 2023 alone. Recent changes to the lottery system aimed at reducing fraud were reportedly exploited by him. The median salary for his recruits was around $87,000, lower than the $125,000 offered by regular employers.

Srinivasa Reddy’s lawyer, Lucas Garritson, argues that the USCIS failed to prevent such manipulations and denies that Srinivasa Reddy’s companies broke any rules.

Besides his business activities, Srinivasa Reddy is involved in politics with the Indian National Congress party and has contested elections from Adilabad. He also owns a media outlet and a firm supporting farmers.
