    Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram offers users to send and receive messages, photos, and videos to chat with other people through Direct Messages or DMs. There may be times when you get an inappropriate message. Such messages (or conversations) can be flagged unfitting.

    Here’s how you can report an offensive message:

    How to report a message

    1. Open the Instagram app on your smartphone.
    2. Go to the DM section and open the conversation you want to report a message from.
    3. Tap and hold the message that you want to report, then select the More option from the pop-up menu.
    4. Hit the Report button.
    5. Users can select a reason for reporting the message.
    6. They can follow the on-screen instructions, and then tap on the Submit Report button.

    How to report a conversation
    The popular social media platform Instagram gives you the option to report an entire conversation that you think is offensive with another person. It is important to note that group chats are not supported by this feature. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.
    2. Then, go to the DM section.
    3. Tap and hold the conversation you want to report.
    4. Tap on the name of the recipient, available at the top of the chat.
    5. Scroll to the bottom and hit the Report button.
    6. Select a reason for reporting the conversation and tap on the Submit Report button.

    Instagram will review up to 30 of the most recent messages sent in the conversation after you submit the report. Additionally, unless you are reporting an intellectual property infringement, your report is anonymous. The account you reported won’t know who filed the complaint.

    Recently, the Meta-owned photo-sharing platform expanded its Account Status feature. It said that creators should understand its policies and be capable of determining whether something they have posted or included in their profile may be affecting their reach to non-followers.
