How Much Real, How Much Fake?

The competition of two big films, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is a topic that created headlines in the last few films. It is clear for now that there is no specific winner since both of them have managed to win the hearts of the audience.

While Singham Again has managed to gross 123 crores so far, BB3 has accumulated almost 103 crores. It seems like both films are close to recovering the money invested by the producers.

But on the other hand, trade experts are not satisfied with the figures since they have some other opinions about the figures. They are now claiming that 40% of the numbers are inflated, stating that a major portion of the same is a result of corporate bookings.

This is not a new accusation since it has been a common thing being said about big-budget films after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The situation took a little bit of a worse turn this year after the release of Kalki 2898 AD since the makers reportedly sued two trade analysts for saying that the film’s collections were fake.

Coming to the current situation, trade experts have said that the process of corporate booking was active only in specific regions.

But with time, the usage has expanded throughout India, where producers of big banners have taken this path to avoid any kind of criticism.

While theatre owners have not responded to the claims so far, the main test for Singham Again and BB3 has started today. Until yesterday, it was a holiday weekend due to which everyone was free to complete their work and buy a ticket.

But we have now entered a time where there are no major holidays at least until Christmas.

People would get busy with their official duties and in between all these, there would be less occupancy in morning shows compared to evening and night, eventually impacting the collections.

We still cannot ignore the fact that both films have elements to entertain an entire family. The upcoming weekends should have an advantage and it remains to be seen if both of them can collectively touch the mark of Rs. 500 crores.
