The Bombay High Court has refused to issue an urgent ruling on a petition to add the Special Backward Class (SBC) as a reserved category in the Maharashtra house and Area Development (MHADA) lottery for house allotments.
Deepal Shahu Shirvale, the petitioner, had requested that the lottery, which was scheduled to be announced on Monday, be halted pending the outcome of the appeal or that the SBC be put in the reserved category.
On August 11, a division bench of Justices Gautam Patel and Neela Gokhale refused to issue any orders giving urgent interim relief on the application, observing that there was no urgency.

Police reported on Monday that mobile internet service has been restored in Haryana’s Nuh district, two weeks after it had been halted following ethnic riots that killed six lives.

The suspension was later extended until August 13th.

As rain wrecked havoc in the state, seven members of a family were murdered in a cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district, and 15 to 20 others were thought buried in two landslides in Shimla.
Following the cloudburst on Sunday night, two houses in Solan were swept away. A police spokesman reported that while six people were saved, seven others were slain in Jadon village.

ISRO said on Monday that Aditya-L1, the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun, is nearing ready for launch.
The satellite, built at the U R Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, has arrived at the ISRO’s spaceport in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, the national space agency announced in an update on the mission.
When questioned about the launch date, an ISRO official told PTI, “Mostly September first week.” The spacecraft is scheduled to be positioned in a halo orbit around the Sun-Earth system’s Lagrange point 1 (L1), which is approximately 1.5 million kilometres away from Earth.

Seven persons were killed, three were missing, and five were rescued after a cloudburst was reported in Jadon village in Kandaghat sub division in Solan, according to Siddhartha Acharya, SDM Kandaghat.

India, China to hold 19th Corps Commander talks today
According to army officials, India and China will convene the 19th round of Corps Commander discussions on 14 August in Chushul as part of ongoing efforts to settle the situation in eastern Ladakh. The talks take place less than a month before the G20 leaders conference, which Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend in person.
“The Indian stance has been consistent, i.e. restoration of status quo ante as on April 2020 and the focus would be on disengagement from Depsang and Demchok. The above entails the restoration of patrolling rights till the traditional patrolling points,” according to a defence source.
This discussion comes less than a month before the G20 leaders summit, which Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend in person.
