Chiyaan Vikram, renowned for his exceptional acting talent, has faced an unfortunate streak of flops over nearly two decades. Despite his impressive skill set, Vikram’s career has been plagued by a series of disappointing films since his last major hit, Aparichithudu, in 2005.
Over the years, Vikram has seen numerous flops, including huge disasters like Mallanna, Bheema, Raavan, Rajapattai, Irumugan, Saamy Square, and Cobra. Among his more recent attempts, only Shankar’s I and Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan series have managed to achieve some level of success.

His latest release, Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, is no exception to this trend. Although the film received a decent initial box office response in Tamil, the word-of-mouth reviews have been negative. In Telugu markets, the film’s openings have been poor.
Vikram delivers a standout performance in Thangalaan, embodying the role with remarkable depth and physicality. His commitment to the character is evident through his raw and nuanced portrayal, showcasing his skill and dedication.

Despite his strong performance, the film suffers from a convoluted screenplay and a disjointed narrative, which ultimately undermines the impact of his work.
The effort invested in Thangalaan is substantial, but the film’s complex and muddled storytelling prevents it from fully engaging the audience. As a result, Vikram’s impressive performance is wasted due to the flaws.
