Here Are 7 New ‘Destiny 2’ Lightfall Exotics, And What They Do

Destiny 2 just released a new trailer that shows off seven different exotics, three weapons and four pieces of armor, that will arrive with Lightfall. It may not be the grand total, but it’s a solid look at not just these specific pieces of gear, but a window into different aspects of Strand as well. Watch the trailer, and let’s go through them.\

Here are the seven we just saw:

Final Warning (Strand Sidearm) – Charged Tracking Rounds – I think we have to assume that Strand weapons are going to be in the top slot alongside Stasis and Kinetic. So there you’ll find the first new sidearm exotic since the reprised Trespasser, one that shoots homing Strand bullets after charging up. Not sure if it interacts with Strand subclass verbs or not.

Deterministic Chaos (Void Machine Gun) – Rhythmic Debuffs – Interacts with not just one but two void 3.0 verbs, where the four shot weakens enemies and the 16th shot is Volatile rounds. Start counting in your head, I guess. Do wonder how this will be better than a normal void MG where you can get constant Volatile rounds. I guess the weaken is good.

Cyrtararchne’s Façade (Hunter Helmet) – Grapple Gives Woven Mail – This is new Hunter-specific helmet that activates something called Woven Mail, a new Stasis defensive thing that appears to give you flinch resistance after a grapple, it’s shown being used in PvP. Possibly good in PvE if there are Aspect and Fragment bonuses that synergize with Woven Mail, similar to void Overshields.

Abeyant Leap (Titan Boots) – Barricade Spawns Additional Lashes – This makes your barricade fling out Strand projectiles on the ground called lashes. What’s interesting here is that this says additional lashes, so it feels like there may be a special Strand barricade that throws out a lash at baseline. Here, we can see it spawning three of them, which hit targets and suspend them in the air.

Quicksilver Storm’s Catalyst (Kinetic(?) Auto Rifle) – Grenades Create Tangles On Kills – While I know that Quicksilver Storm is currently kinetic, I do wonder if it will switch over to Strand once the expansion is live, because we now know that its catalyst ability spawns Strand “tangles” on kills, orbs you throw that do…something. So far looks like normal damage, but we’ll see.

Swarmers (Warlock Boots) – Destroying Tangles Creates Swarmers – Wait, are tangles like Stasis shards for Strand, except you can interact with them like throwing them and destroying them? Not sure. In any case, here Warlocks can create little seeking Strand aphids that hunt targets after destroying Tangles. There’s your “Brood” class for you.

Winterbite (Stasis Glaive) – Freeze Enemies With Frost Orb – At long last we have our stasis glaive for the top slot, but I do hope this exotic functions better than the last three elemental ones we have with no weird charge up mechanic. This time you are able to freeze enemies with frost orbs that seem to function as both turrets and exploding frost bombs. Pretty cool, if activation is not a pain, that is.

So that’s seven exotics. They are likely hiding the raid exotic. There are likely not any more armor ones. Seems a tad light in terms of the total to me, unless we have even more hiding, but we’ll see. Not sure if these include seasonal exotics from the attached Lightfall season as well. Still, looking forward to getting my hands on all these.
