Hema Malini and Esha Deol recently shared some words of praise for Sunny Deol’s Jaat and said that Dharmendra has also really enjoyed the film. Hema is the second wife of Sunny’s father Dharmendra. Hema praised the film’s big opening, and Esha said that Jaat’s success shows people’s love for Sunny.
Hema told Instant Bollywood, “I heard it has opened with bumper number. It is nice to know that people are liking his film. Dharam ji khush hain (Dharm ji is very happy.) The film is so good, I believe.” Esha added, “I am so happy. It is all his hard work and people’s love for him. I am so happy that the film has opened big and that is how it has to be with him. Always.”
Jaat opened at the box office with Rs 9.5 crore and has managed to earn Rs 16.5 crore in the first two days. Jaat was announced shortly after the success of Gadar 2, which managed to earn Rs 525.7 crore during its theatrical run. Alongside Jaat, Sunny announced two other films – Border 2 and Lahore 1947.
Lahore 1947 brings him back with his Ghayal and Ghatak director Rajkumar Santoshi. Sunny even won a National Award for his appearance as a supporting actor in Rajkumar’s Damini. The two fell apart in the early 2000s when they were making their respective Bhagat Singh films. Aamir Khan is producing the film, and Preity Zinta will share the screen space with Sunny here.
Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan. Sunny recently revealed that uch like the original film, this will also be set in 1971.
