Iconic stars come and go in an industry as fleeting as Bollywood, but many stay in your mind long after the curtain has set on their professional career. Helen is one such celebrity; known for performances in films like Don (1972), Howrah Bridge (1958), and Sholay (1975), the actor continues living life as full as possible even at the age of 85. In a recent video shared by fitness coach and influencer YasminKarachiwala, the actor can be seen keeping up an active routine and doing all sorts of Pilates exercises.
The video shared by Yasmin starts with Helen saying, “Hi, I am a girl of 85, and because of Pilates.” The caption of the post reads, “At 85, Helen Khan is doing things most wouldn’t even try. From climbing stairs without a cane to trampoline jumps and dancing on Monica Oh My Darling—she’s just unstoppable. Living proof that Pilates keeps you young!” The actor then proceeds to jump on a trampoline and boasts about her ability to do so at 85.
She talks about “Bending it like Beckham” and challenges the viewers to do the same as she is invited by Yasmin to do her most challenging exercise. With the help of a pull-up machine and a gym ball, the actor performs sit-ups effortlessly while being guided by her coach. Yasmin talks about Helen not having any issues with activities such as sitting, standing up and walking up the stairs, things people usually struggle with a lot at this age. Helen then breaks into dance on the iconic song ‘Piya Tu Ab Toh Aja’, from the film Caravan (1971).
Helen danced to the song in the film as Monica, and it was composed by R.D. Burman and sung by Asha Bhosle. The track has stood the test of time and is still very much alive through pop culture references.
