Barroz, starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, was met with disapproval by viewers. Mohanlal is the author and director of the fantasy thriller.
After seeing the film in theaters, viewers claimed that despite its breathtaking visuals, it felt flat. Social media also users claim that Mohanlal has had a difficult year because of the release of two of his films: the recently released Barroz and the Lijo Jose Pellissery-directed Malaikottai Vaaliban.

Both movies had enormous hopes among the audiences before their release but ended up as flops. After being a disaster at the box office, the actor himself stirred the pot regarding the failure of his first directorial.
During a recent interview, Mohanlal stated how he wanted to give something back to the audiences after being loved by them for the last 47 years.

“This film is not for the number or the money. I wanted to make something and give it to the audience. This is a gift for them. . ” stated the renowned actor.
He further added how he aimed to make a family-friendly film for the audiences so that they could enjoy it with their loved ones.

As it stands, the film is being bashed at the box office with collections nearing up to 10 crores in almost a week after its release. As 2024 wraps up for the renowned superstar, it remains to be seen what fate has in store for Mohanlal in 2025.
