It’s a heartbreak for India ahead of the much-awaited final event of women’s 50kg wrestling in the Olympics as Vinesh Phogat may get disqualified due to being overweight.
According to the reports, Vinesh Poghat was found 100 gms heavier than 50 kg this morning. As per the rules, she may get disqualified for the final.
The report went on to say that she may be even qualified to win a silver medal. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet and we have to wait for an official statement.
Vinesh was the star in women’s wrestling yesterday as she qualified for the final by winning three games on a trot. She even defeated the world champion and defending Olympic Gold Medalist Yui Susaki in her first round.
Later, she won the quarterfinal and semifinal with utmost dominance and qualified for the final. She emerged as the first Indian female wrestler to qualify for the Olympic finals.
The entire nation was hoping to see her win a gold medal. They were happy that she would at least win a silver, if not gold.
But the latest reports coming from Paris broke all our hearts. It is indeed a shattering moment for Vinesh and billions of Indians.
