Harsh Lesson to Akshay Kumar & Ajay Devgn

PVR Inox recently had one more run of the Cinema Lovers Day that theater goers are so fond of. And tickets to movies like Azaad and Emergency were available for only 112 rupees for January 17th. But the step did not yield expected results.

Azaad, which was Ajay Devgn’s nephew Aaman’s debut feature, managed to only make 1.4 crores despite this offer. This is a huge disappointment because the Cinema Lovers Day has an impressive track record till now.

On the other hand, Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force tried a similar stunt with cheap tickets. There were multiple coupons for audiences allowing them to buy tickets for 50 or even 20 rupees.

While it gathered a crowd for the time being, it does not seem to be a very convenient idea because the overall theater affair, including parking, transportation, food and drinks costs way too much and people are jokingly asking for coupons for these too.

It has come to this that people are not going to watch a movie unless the prices are surprisingly low and this hints at something very obvious.

The movies are not good enough and audiences cannot be made fun of with crappy stories again and again. Luring people with cheap tickets might work temporarily but after word of mouth falls out it will not matter much how less the price is.
