Willie Brown claimed to have introduced (not face to face) Kamala Harris to then businessman Donald Trump. Brown, Harris and a few other associates had been in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where Brown was speaking at Harvard, when Trump sent up his plane to ferry the group to Teterboro, New Jersey. Trump urgently wanted Brown’s advice on how to build a property in Los Angeles
This was not the one occasion where their paths crossed — many more followed. Donald Trump skipped President Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021 where they could have met. Kamala Harris attended at least two of three Trump State of the Union addresses. She also sat in the Senate chamber in early 2020 during Trump’s first impeachment trial. They also did not meet in person during the 2020 election.
Kamala Harris was elected as the California senator in 2016 during her second term as the state’s attorney general. Donald Trump even donated $6000 to Harris’ campaign when she was California’s attorney general. Trump’s daughter Ivanka also donated $2,000 to Harris campaign in 2014. Despite all these crisscrosses, they reportedly never met in person.
Axios made a list of funerals and memorials where Kamala Harris and Donald Trump could have met but could not as Donald Trump did not attend those events. Trump didn’t attend the former US representative Elijah Cummings’ 2019 funeral in Baltimore, the memorial service of former US House member John Lewis, services of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg etc.
