For more than a decade now, gamers have been waiting for the release of the next iteration of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series. In December last year, Rockstar released the first trailer for the upcoming GTA 6, and it became the most-viewed video in 24 hours and broke several other records. The trailer also confirmed a 2025 release date for the game.

However, several rumours post the trailer suggested that GTA 6 will face delays, and Rockstar might push the release date to 2026. Now, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games has put the rumours about further delays to rest and has shared the details about the release of GTA 6 in its Q4 2024 earnings call.

According to a new report by The Verge, Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two has said, “Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.” Further, he also gave an interview to IGN and stated, “We do feel highly confident that we’ll deliver [Grand Theft Auto VI] in fall of 2025.”

He also said that the highly popular GTA V has sold over 200 million copies worldwide, since its official release in 2013. It has also now become the second-best-selling gaming title after Minecraft, which has more than 300 million sales.

GTA 6 will be only available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at its launch, with its PC release timeline yet to be confirmed. It is set in the state of Leonida and also has Vice City which is a fictionalised version of Miami.
